Ursula "Cecilia" Johnson was born in Norwick, Unst, Shetland.
In February 1875, in Leith, Scotland, Cecilia married Magnus Mouat, who was the cousin and business partner of Cecilia's brother-in-law Gilbert Anderson (Cecilia's sister Ann's husband). They had their first son, William, while living in Leith.[1]
In 1876, Cecilia, Magnus and their infant son emigrated to New Zealand's West Coast, on the ship Howrah. Cecilia and Magnus had five more children in New Zealand.[1]
Many other family and friends from Norwick, Shetland also moved to New Zealand's West Coast. Many other members of Cecilia's (Johnson) family were on board the Howrah, including Ann and Gilbert (and other siblings of Gilbert's). There were many family connections between the Johnsons, Mouats, Andersons, Harpers, and other Shetlanders on the West Coast.
Magnus and Cecilia lived in Charleston until 1902, and then lived in Wellington and Westport. Cecilia died in 1926 in Wellington or Lower Hutt.[1]

Anderson and Johnson families on the Howrah, London-Nelson, Jul-Nov 1876:[5]
Members of several interconnected Shetland families moved to New Zealand (especially Buller, West Coast) in the 1860s-70s. At least some had been living in Leith, Midlothian, Scotland before moving to NZ. On board this sailing of the Howrah were several children (and grandchildren) of William Anderson and Charlotte (Russell) Anderson, joining sister Margaret (Anderson) Harper who was already in New Zealand. Also on board were several children (and grandchildren) of Ann Duncan/Johnson and John Johnson, including Ann herself. The Johnson and Anderson siblings were connected by two different marriages, which had involved two Anns swapping surnames: John Johnson had married Ann (Anderson) Johnson, and Gilbert Anderson had married Ann (Johnson) Anderson.
